Hyun Soo Kim 'Resisting' Minor League Assignment

Hyun Soo Kim won't be on the Opening Day roster for the Baltimore Orioles and the Korean outfielder is reportedly "resisting" a Minor League assignment.

A return to South Korea is not in play right now, according to Dan Duquette.

Red Sox Going With Travis Shaw Over Pablo Sandoval At Third

The Boston Red Sox will start Travis Shaw at third base on Opening Day, a decision that sends Pablo Sandoval to the bench.

Shaw is a former ninth-round draft pick. Sandoval was signed to a $95 million contract before the 2015 season.

"For right now to start the season, I feel this is the best for our team to go with this alignment," John Farrell said. "My focus is on the guys that are in uniform, not what's attached to them or what their contract states."

The San Diego Padres reportedly sent a scout to watch Pablo Sandoval, but A.J. Preller has downplayed the possibility of a trade with the Boston Red Sox.

"Our pro scouts work really hard to look at all 30 clubs. ... That's the nature of what goes on," Preller told the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Sandoval is in a surprise competition with Travis Shaw for the third base job in Boston.

The Texas Rangers have acquired Bobby Wilson and Myles Jaye from the Detroit Tigers in exchange for Bryan Holaday.

Holaday, a 28-year-old Dallas native who played college ball at TCU, heads home after weeks of speculation about his future in Detroit. He has had a great spring, but found himself third on the depth chart behind James McCann and Jarrod Saltalamacchia.

Stubbs exercised the opt-out provision in his contract after it became apparent that he wouldn't be added to the 40-man roster.

Houston had been searching for another catcher after losing presumed reserve Max Stassi to injury.

The Detriot Tigers have parted ways with Bobby Parnell and Casey McGehee via unconditional release.

Brad Ausmus left the door open for either Parnell or McGehee to return in the future.

"Yeah, yeah," Ausmus told reporters. "There's a chance."

Detroit also demoted Bruce Rondon to Triple-A.

The young flamethrower, who was sent home by the Tigers last September for work-ethic issues, came into camp with arguably the most to prove of any player.
